Cyclops MC Level 1

Cyclops. Cyclops, Cyclops, Cyclops. Now I have made my feelings about Cyclops unabashedly clear, but I think doing so in such a candid manner may have given the wrong impression. Do I hate Cyclops? No. But, I'm not reaching for my sleeves, salivating with anticipation like I am for Thor either. So let's look at what I do like.

Thematically Cyclops is on point. As the staunch and constant leader of the X-Men everything about him fits. Leader, Battle Tactics, Range, and Homo Superior (his xp condition) all fit like fine tailored suit. Plus, leader on an MC is a decidedly beautiful thing. His stats are completely average at lvl 1 becoming a best in class at lvl 2. A 5/8 with leader, great. I won't spend a lot of time talking about optic blast here (we did that pretty throughly in the podcast), I'll just quickly re-affirm my stance. I agree with Peters assessment of what I'd like the power to have been, 3 resources to stun all SC's in the front row.

Cyclops MC Level 2

So, what does cyclops need? He needs new SC and plot twist support. Some solid characters to help with front row defense and mitigate his need to rely on battle tactics when formatting for the opponents turn. His current PT tool box isn't bad; Uncanny Defense, X-Factor, and Squad Tactics are all good cards, but I'd like to see something extra that assists with his XP condition. The more of these things we see the better Cyclops becomes. If we get enough of them Cyclops has the potential to go from a thematically accurate kitchen table deck to something we might see sitting across the tournament table.

One final thought is the thing I'm absolutely the most excited about from this spoiler. HAVOK! If thematic accuracy is continued we're gonna see a character with the potential for a much more devastating ability than optic blast. We may also see a character that gets stronger after being attacked with, or is straight up immune to super powers (the ability of absorb then redirect energy is pretty cool). Let the rampant speculation begin.

Remember to check out our podcast episode for the (very candid) first impressions on Cyclops from the whole Team Attack crew.
